This bit has a mouthpiece that is similar to a snaffle but with a spiral groove to the mouthpiece. It is hinged at the cheeks and in the toggle center, which gives you extreme flexibility which on a rope horse, in many cases is a good thing.

I've used this successfully on more fragile-mouthed horses, and it's a great graduation step to a leverage bit for horses that have been in an Argentine snaffle or a regular snaffle bit. Of the mouthpieces we offer, the Starter is the mildest (lowest power) mouthpiece that we offer. I've used it a lot and gotten a really nice response from it. Barrel racers love it too.
